Disney Post

Name a way in which Disney exerts its media power over customers. How does the company profit from what you do?

A way Disney exerts its media power over customers is through its movies. An example is the upcoming The Incredibles 2 animation movie. The Incredibles (the first one) was released in 2004 and now almost fourteen years later people are once again talking about it like it was yesterday came out. A movie that lasted only 116 minutes has impacted our culture so much that this new sequel has people on the edge of their seats to find out what happens next fourteen years later. This is only one of many examples of the impact Disney has over its audiences and the media industry. Now it seems like every other movie hit is made by Disney. From superheroes to history and fiction Disney has it all in its movie industry. Owning massive titles like Marvel Studios, Lucas-film, and Pixar to name a few. Disney shows its dominance on the field with movies each year bringing new movies to the table. Always coming up with new ideas, Disney's grasp on the movie and media industry isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Disney makes profit off of what I do because I am a customer of their products. I enjoy their inedible animated movies and other titles from Marvel and Star Wars. My childhood has been littered with Disney movies and it’s hard to image those years without those movies. Because of this I watch some of their new movies every year and buy some of their merchandise for movies i especially enjoy making them money in the process.

Tv& Cable Post

How many hours a week do you watch television or do others in your household watch television?  What qualitative differences have you observed between network and cable programming?  Do you prefer the programming on network television or on cable? Why? Every week I watch about ten to fifteen hours of television. Networking and Cable have some key differences. Even back to its inception, Cable according to the textbook has increased channel capacity compared to that of Networking. Networking can gain funds mostly in the form of adds while Cable accumulates profits mainly through paid subscriptions. From personal experience, I almost always encounter better connection when watching cable than networking. I prefer programming on Cable because it gives greater diversity and a better connection allowing for an enjoyable experience.
