Tv& Cable Post

How many hours a week do you watch television or do others in your household watch television?  What qualitative differences have you observed between network and cable programming?  Do you prefer the programming on network television or on cable? Why? Every week I watch about ten to fifteen hours of television. Networking and Cable have some key differences. Even back to its inception, Cable according to the textbook has increased channel capacity compared to that of Networking. Networking can gain funds mostly in the form of adds while Cable accumulates profits mainly through paid subscriptions. From personal experience, I almost always encounter better connection when watching cable than networking. I prefer programming on Cable because it gives greater diversity and a better connection allowing for an enjoyable experience.

Paralyzed

Paralyzed by NF captures the mood of the lyrics with absolute perfection. This song is a heavy sadness mixed with frustration at trying to find why he (NF) feels paralyzed with everything going on around him. This song starts very somber and shifts tone into a quicker pace with words etched in frustration gazing upon one's situation. NF's usage of tone in this song perfectly depict his lyrics.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHhHUZsXTBk

Freedom of Expression

Page 508 (11th edition) of the textbook describes the "social responsibility model" of expression as a system in which the press functions as an unofficial branch of government which monitors the legislative, judicial and executive branches for abuses of power.   Do you believe this is true? Also, while we think of our press as "free," describe a few of the limitations under which the press operates. Yes, to an extent. A press in a democracy that is privately owned and separate from the government can act as an unofficial branch of government or according to the textbook a Fourth Estate. A privately-owned press has the power to exploit the government and keep them in check, but of course like almost anything it can be exploited. A government can work its way around the press, and people can be manipulated to spin stories or even do it for personal gain. So, it isn’t a perfect system. While we have the constitution that gives us a free pres...

Radio Post

1.       Do you listen to the radio? 2.       If yes, what do you listen to? Sports, news, music, talk shows, something else? 3.       If yes, when do you listen and what are you doing when you listen to the radio? 4.       In your opinion, should radio be regulated? Why or why not? Yes, I listen to radio stations. I listen to music stations that incorporate news reports and small talk in between a playlist of songs. I am almost always driving when I am listening to the radio. In my opinion, there should be some regulations when it comes to radio. The textbook referred to when there was little to no regulation for airways in the early 1900's, and everyone received static. By regulating airways, it allows for stations to broadcast clearly without the worry of interference of other stations.

Dark on me

Dark On Me written by Starset is a rock song enriched in a deeper meaning than most other rock songs. When I hear this song I picture someone running through memories of the person that meant everything to them and then disappeared. The background music supporting the main singer is incredible and the tone of music fits perfectly with the narrative. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yntDx4Y4baw
